How do You Know God’s Will for your Life?

February 28, 2014

So many people struggle with this question.  Sometimes the church makes it too complicated; it’s not.  Romans 12 states clearly “Offer yourselves fully to God.  This is true worship.”  (Quick tangent:  Worship isn’t the songs we prefer to sing or certain ways or rituals; it’s dedicating our lives to God…it’s a radical faith that aligns our will with God’s.)  Once you’ve done that (remember that free-will thing), God finally has the authority of your heart necessary to transform you.  Then, and only then, will you begin to know what God’s specific will is for your life.  This is in tune with Jesus’ summation of the whole law (Matthew 22), “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind” (with everything you have).  When I say it’s not complicated, I’m not implying it’s easy.  Totally giving your will to God is not easy and it’s not a one-time decision; it’s your new life, and you’re going to love it!  A loving church can help each other through the process.
